Hello families! These past two weeks have been busy. Last week, students completed their work with Ozobots by creating a story about their Ozobot and presenting it to the class. The only requirements for their story was that it follow the story mountain format we have learned this year (exposition, initial conflict, rising actions, climax, falling action and conclusion). Students were creative in coming up with different problems for their Ozobots to face, and how each problem was resolved. We also created a piece of artwork inspired by pop art artist Keith Haring for Valentine's Day. This week, students continued their work on multiplication. By the end of the week, students began multi-digit multiplication using different methods, such as the area model, box method or long multiplication. Hello families. This week, we reviewed addition and subtraction in math, with a focus on decimals. Students completed a task where they were given a restaurant menu and had to determine different meal totals for various real life situations. In science, we continued to explore electricity, and students viewed a demonstration of a circuit. Next week, students will be learning about the potential dangers of electricity. Much like the boys in Holes discussing their future careers, students began writing a persuasive paragraph about what career they would like to have when they grow up and why.  Students were busy working on their My Story, My History projects in social studies. Students are either creating a poster, a scrapbook or a suitcase with artifacts that showcase their personal stories and histories.  We once again had the opportunity to work with the ozobots this week. Students completed a n...

We finished our work on improper fractions and mixed numbers in math with addition and subtraction. Next week, we will be briefly reviewing addition and subtraction with decimal numbers, then moving on to multiplication. In Science, we started our unit on electricity by considering what students already knew about electricity (our lights and video games are powered by electricity), and brainstorming things students want to know (how does it work, how do solar panels work). In Social Studies, students gathered your stories and histories through interview questions, and will now be creating a final presentation. They can create a visual poster, a suitcase (shoebox) exhibit or a scrapbook....
